In the background of most psychological problems have genetic, biological and environmental factors. The former theory was that these disorders are caused by endogenous (innate) factors or reactive (triggered by circumstance) factors. Currently this point of view is not accepted. The congenital vulnerability, the environmental factors (mainly the experiences from early childhood) and the family circumstances create the personality, so in this way by the age of 6 it will be determined who is sensitive to mental disorders. These psychological disorders are so called late onset type that means they will only be featured in adolescence or early adulthood. The trigger of these disorders is frequently loss, stress or trauma, but this is the only final stage before being psyched out. This dynamic of development means the base of effective treatment: biological side can be treated by oral medicine and the mental side can be treated by psychotherapy – improvement of personality. The complex approach means: the personalized bona-fide method and the minimal, but effective dosed oral medicine as mono-therapy – if it’s possible.

1. Depression:

The image of mood swings appears in ancient mythology and the Bible. It is a low mood, accompanied by changes in sleep and appetite, characteristic sleep disturbances, inability to feel pleasure, lack of motivation, loss of the capacity to love, and physical complaints. These symptoms persist for at least 2 weeks in depression, except for the specific (rapid cycle) type of depression. A continuum approach can be used to interpret the onset, so that different proportions of each case, but always a combination of a disposition and a tragic life event, can be identified. Tragedy and death make all sentient people sad, but only the susceptible become depressed! The mourning and the depression are not the same – see Freud. In some cases, only the depressive episodes can be detected, but in other cases manic (tuned-up) and depressive episodes are changing. The latest type is rare and has stronger genetic background. The  earlier recognition of depression, the more effective treatment is, even the onset can be prevented by special methods. Good news that the genes aren’t means the fate, we can influence or stop their manifestation even in adulthood. Special forms: antenatal and post-natal depression – AND and PND. We have special consultancy for the prevention and treatment of this kind of depression as well. The severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is PMDD. This means an atypical depression, in which changing of lifestyle is an important possibility of prevention.

Menopause and contraception in connection with depression. This needs a complex approach: exploring and treating the bio-psycho-social factors as well.

2. Anxiety disorders:

Anxiety is part of life; it has a useful function: warns to danger and mobilize the organism to fight. By the effect, nervous system and body maximize the energy level for fight or fly away. If the anxiety system is too sensitive, it becomes self-impulsive, and it doesn’t support but paralyzing every day’s life. The final common pathway of cascade is the crash over of nervous system’s biochemistry, the disturbance of neurotransmitters. The key things of treatment are better coping mechanism, improving pressure tolerance and revealing biological disharmony.

Panic disorder: This means a heavy and seizure anxiety accompanied by scary physical symptoms (heavy heartbeat, drowning, vertigo), fear of death or fear of losing control. The patient is usually wakening up at night by the symptoms. It was named after Pan who frightened the travelers (in the Greek mythology) but didn’t offend them. Panic is a fake alarm for the body, because the organism is healthy in physical meaning. Too many fake alarms can lead to exhaust and trigger organic disorders. Body and mind give signals simultaneously, so the target of complex treatment is the health of both.

Social phobia: The symptoms of anxiety disorder (heavy heartbeat, dizziness, blush) side step in social situation. The patient avoids the social gatherings where he must speak, eat or perform. The escalation of the problem can lead to full isolation and disrupt every day’s life.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD): is an anxiety disorder that is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable, and often irrational worry, that is, apprehensive expectation about events or activities. This excessive worry often interferes with daily functioning, as individuals suffering GAD typically anticipate disaster, and are overly concerned about everyday matters such as health issues, money, death, family problems, friendship problems, interpersonal relationship problems, or work difficulties. The frequent symptoms are heavy heartbeat, tremor, nervousness, forgetfulness, fatigue. These symptoms must be consistent and ongoing, persisting at least six months, for a formal diagnosis of GAD to be introduced.

3. Relationship problems:

The assurance of people’s happiness is a deep and familiar relationship. Those who live in a harmonic relationship with many touches, have a significant longer life, a better immune system and less disorders. The more familiar and benevolent is the relationship the better chance for recovery from a serious illness. Fortunate factor also needs to find a good relationship, but it’s the partners’ responsibility to keep, develop and hold it. It’s harder to hold on love than to get it. It’s not acceptable in a relationship to be lazy or not to take care of the partner. If something doesn’t work, it needs to be noticed and changed in time. But there’s recovery from crises as well, in some cases it can strengthen the relationship. The relationship seems like a sensitive flower: it needs continuous care and paying attention. We can’t save our lover with obstacles, but only with love. The long and monogamous relationship is like tango: we dance during our lives by responding to each-other. But if it’s time go further, think over whether we have done our best or missed something.
